My daughters first birthday was a week and a half ago. Her party guests (mostly my family) were very generous and she received lots of gifts. Most of the gifts were clothes. The thing is (and I feel really guilty saying this), most of the clothes were not my taste. I want to exchange them, but I'm feeling SO guilty. What would you do?

exchange them...or they may just go to waste! and she will never wear them if you are not a fan....you are not alone on this I'm pretty sure if we are all honest that we have done it at one time or another!

keep one or two and make sure to get a pic....good luck!

i know EXACTLY how you fell, that's why i always tell people to get her clothes from Target or Baby Gap because those are my tastes. My mother says always ask for money or gift cards, but personally i feel guilty for doing that, so i don't. My husband HATES and REFUSES to return anything Audrey gets, but I do it anyway because Audrey is still wearing 6-9, target brand and 12mths BabyGap brand and everyone gets us 18 months.

Luckily this time around i used myregistry and most everyone got gifts from her registry. For Audrey's birthday i got ANOTHER gift card to gymboree, adding on top of the other gymboree gift cards i got from Audrey's birth and baptism. I've tried to go in there looking for things i like and i haven't found anything, EVER! I'm also not going to pay $20 for pjs that don't fit her well.

I say exchange it, so you don't feel as guilty. But when people say, "you should put on the outfit i got her", just say it's too big. Most of the time when i tell people its too small, they say "get a bigger size", i just say, they didn't have her size and then show them what i got instead and maybe take a picture. Honestly, to this day i am still lying that i "lost" a cheetah print super gotti gymboree faux fur jacket from his mom all because i do not like fur, even if it is faux, its cheap and tacky. Now his whole family call me the "Gift Nazi" (sorry if that offends anyone) and joke that i return everything, which i dont.

But now they actually look at the registry, which is the point.

i would take them back so she will wear the new clothes.
otherwise they will hang in the closet, you will buy
her clothes you like for her, and that would be a waste.
